Isis Keigwin, CEO + Co-founder

Isis was born and raised in Massachusetts, where she learned the values of generosity, kindness, gratitude and equality from her mother, grandmother and their close-knit family. She attended Duke University where she earned dual degrees in Sociology and African and African-American Studies as well as a minor in Markets and Management Studies. Prior to co-founding Camellia Network, Isis spent more than 12 years in the world of Advertising and Public Relations – most recently at Ogilvy where she was a Vice President and Senior Strategic Planner. After spending over a decade witnessing firsthand how technology, creativity and innovation were being used to solve challenges that some of the world’s largest corporations were facing, Isis now wakes up every day excited to put that same level of creative thinking and innovation to work on this grave societal dilemma. In her spare time (what’s that?) you can find her in Northern California running, hiking, playing guitar, writing or rocking out to teeny bopper music in the car with her two daughters. Caitlyn King, Membership Coordinator, Americorps Member

Caitlyn was born and raised her younger years in the Sacramento area before moving to the West Shore of Lake Tahoe at eleven years old. Growing up in the mountains quickly engrained a sense of passion for the outdoors, environment and adventure. Her mountain blood led her to study Environmental Conservation at UC Berkeley. Throughout college, Caitlyn became a mentor and steering committee leader for the YWCA Youth Mentor Program, which focused on creating a support system for inner city youth transitioning into young adulthood through middle school. During her last semester, she also dedicated a large amount of time on community outreach and grassroots campaigns as an intern with Fair Trade USA, solidifying her experience in volunteer and group organization.

Being involved with the Bay Area community ignited Caitlyn's excitement to learn about cultures and people of different backgrounds. After graduation, she spent a year traveling and working on the East Coast before backpacking through South America for 3 1/2 months. Her route eventually looped her back to the beginning, where she recently moved back to Sacramento in November to get experience in the nonprofit sector and work on pre requirements for a graduate program further down the road.

Kathryn Burgess, Communications Intern

Kathryn, or more commonly known as Kat to most, was born in Colorado Springs, Colorado and raised in the quaint town of Half Moon Bay, California. She moved to Sacramento three years ago - a very hot transition! In December of 2012, she graduated from Sacramento State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Communication Studies with an emphasis in Mass Media. During her time at Sac State, she was a member of Lambda Pi Eta, the National Communication Honors Society.

Kat has always had an interest in giving back to the community and working with youth to help them pursue and achieve their dreams. Upon graduating, she took a promotion with Joe’s Crab Shack partnering with many nonprofits to aid in fundraising and event coordination. The fulfillment she got from paying it forward helped lead her to want more involvement in making a difference in people’s lives. Kat is very excited to be a part of the Camellia Network and can’t wait to learn as much as she can in her time here.

In her (little) free time, you’ll find her fixing up her house (first time home ownership has many ups and downs!), spending time with her boyfriend and their dogs, whipping up a tasty treat, sweating it out on the mat at Bikram yoga, and globe trotting. View Profile.
